November 2013

Engedering the New Deal Compact The New Deal Compact is a global reform initiative aimed at pushing forward development progress in fragile and conflict affected states. The compact also serves as a framework for partnership between the Government of South Sudan and the international community. There will be 15 benchmarks for the improving the way government works and the delivery of international aid. Ensuring gender is recognised as a cross cutting priority across the 15 benchmarks is critical. From the Ministry of Gender to the NNGO forum and various civil society organisations, there was been great activity in addressing gender. In October and November SSWEN attended and participated in some of these discussions and fed into the Access to Justice and Anti Corruption benchmark working group at the Joint Government –Donor Workshop on the New Deal Compact on 31st October. The Compact is due to be launched at a High Level Partnership Forum in Juba on 3rd December. For a brief overview of the New Deal and the course of implementation in South Sudan please visit our resources page. Engedering the New Deal Compact 15/11/13
